We inherited a stash of at least 20 different styles, types, shapes, and sizes of bottles, nipples, etc. Even though I knew we really wanted old-fashioned glass bottles, we gave these a try in the meantime. In a search for the right thing to keep Ellen happy without too much gas we went through at least 4 nipple styles and several more bottle types. Some worked okay, but not great. Some of the more commonly touted styles only served to annoy our little girl with their slow flow and inadequate throughput. Some just collapsed under the incredible power of her tiny lips. Others just worried Mom and Dad with potential off-gassing and other ickiness.
The truth is, our instincts were dead on from the beginning -- we have one classic 4 oz glass bottle that works perfectly with little gassiness -- they fit perfectly with the hand-me-down tri-flow collars and nipples we already had to keep the flow right for demanding Ellen!
Fortunately, I see that our Amazon registry enabled my awesome cousin and her partner to send a set of 4 oz and 8 oz bottles on their way to us. It is the perfect blend of 21st century technology with tried-and-true hardware from several centuries ago!

Registry Revisited
Ellen's formula is Enfamil Lipil with Iron.
Otherwise, you know we can't do anything the easy way. So, we have:
Registry Options:
1. The Amazon list -- just because it was easier -- you can use any vendor -- though A LOT of this is only available online one way or the other
2. Babies R Us or Target have a few of our more "normal" preferences listed and they have a store you can actually visit!
3. The "not available on amazon" list of cloth diapers, accessories and other cool things via online retailers (below). These are links to specific items on specific items on sites -- in most cases you can order from the page it is linked to -- but it may not be a big box retailer.
The specialty list of quirky stuff we want:
(Most of these MUST be ordered online via the site linked, and are NOT available in brick and mortar stores in Charlotte)

A New Year
Could be any day now, or yet another year. We'll wait. God knows we've had enough ickyness to last forever -- so 2008 had better be a new start!
